(1) Background: Alternative Lifestyle Today
With the growing interest in medical and health tourism, the Centre will naturally begin to foster interest from the Singapore tourist industry, by offering facilities and healing techniques unique both in terms of the type of healing and its alignment to a more cosmopolitan clientele.
(2) The Center’s Objective
Omrit Awakening Centre is here to bring forward a new dimension of understanding for the needs of today’s world. The Founder and Director Ms. Poonam Uppal believes every one of us has the power and capability to heal all aspects of our personal and professional lives. Beyond that, we all have the spiritual right to our own happiness and well-being. Director Mr. Clifford Tan, owner of Delhi Restaurants and Visually Impaired Therapy Centre, has the shared the vision of helping people uplift their spirits in all walks of lives.
The Centre will go beyond simple meditation in creating an environment in which people can understand the interplay between themselves, the environment they live in, the food they eat, their ability to monitor and manage their own health and their own personal awareness and self esteem, to create healthier and more balanced individuals. Applying unique advanced techniques to empower people to find their true connectivity and thereby heal themselves permanently.
(3) How the Centre will achieve its objective
The Centre will use:
· Corporate & Personal Programs - A variety of self awareness courses aimed at allowing people to manage stress, increase wellness and raise self esteem, creativity and their overall sense of well being;
· Alternative healing techniques & products;
· Concepts of managing your diet through eating well and healthily whilst maintaining the taste in the food you consume; and
· Techniques to enabling people to effectively manage their own health and overcome chronic health issues.
(4) Environmental Consciousness – A Key to Healing
1. Our objective is to create a centre that is both spacious and able to blend into the environment; a retreat that is naturally relaxing and away from the pressures of the every day world.
2. We aim to build the Centre in an environmentally conscious way so that it is self-sustaining. For example, we plan to use solar power and collect water for irrigation purposes.
3. The grounds of the Centre will be designed to generate a sense of tranquility and closeness to nature, enabling people to walk and meditate at their leisure.
4. To enable land usage in terms of built up land to be in a ratio that does not exceed 25 to 30% of the total land area, ensuring a low environmental impact and creating an ‘Eden’ like experience.
(5) Holistic Garden & Restaurant
There shall be an organic garden of vegetables and herbs that will provide fresh, wholesome ingredients for the Centers' associated holistic restaurant. The organic garden will also grow medicinal herbs to be used in the healings conducted at the Centre.
As part of the process of cleansing, natural holistic food will be served in a holistic food restaurant as part of the services of the Centre, both to people receiving healings as well as to those who simply wish to get away to a good restaurant offering high quality vegetarian food that tastes good!
Where practical, all produce used will also be grown on-site to ensure that we can control the quality of ingredients and maximize the health benefits of the food prepared.
People will be given the opportunity to learn how to holistically grow vegetables and cook healing dishes. Educating themselves through the courses and cooking classes, ensuring to take with them recipes of quick, tasty and healthy food to implement in their everyday lifestyle.
(6) Proposed Alternative Services
By using a combination of massage, meditation, yoga, interactive class and learning sessions, the Centre will help people create for themselves a greater level of self-awareness of the body’s ability to heal itself, and of the impact diet and environment has on health and well-being.
People will learn how to utilize the resources of nature to bring balance to their lives. This will be augmented with a range of massage and aroma oils specifically designed to assist people in healing them selves. Elixirs made from natural plant extracts will also be used to help people in balancing their energies.
The above will be achieved through the provision of the following:
· ½ - 3 day intensive therapy sessions
· ½ - 7 day corporate retreats
· 1 - 4 week healing retreats
· Workshops and seminars
· Publications & multimedia programs
· Product ranges available for purchase
(5) Benefiting the Community – Subsidized Programs
The Centre’s intention is to assist people at all levels of society. While helping people who attend the Centre for healings will certainly benefit the overall society in terms of generally teaching people to reduce the stress in their lives and to realign their physical and mental health, there will also be a range of special activities and programs developed at the Awakening Centre designed to reach special interest groups within the community.
These include talks and programs for:
• Children and young people, especially youth at risk: self awareness programs to help build self esteem for at risk youth, to give them a greater sense of purpose and confidence in their ability to create their own destiny within society.
· Pregnant women and their families, Bringing health awareness and energetically assisting them to balance their body systems, deal with the stresses of pregnancy and birth, and in providing their newborns with a healing and harmonious environment. This will help ensure that the country’s newest citizens are healthy from birth and are energetically given the best possible start in life.
• Elderly people, so that they can increase their quality of life through a better understanding of health issues facing the elderly.
These programs will be run for the benefit of the people of Singapore and funds generated from the running of the other programs will be utilized to create and subsidize these projects.
(5) Unique Design
The concept, design and layout of the Centre will be entirely exclusive and highly specialized. It will be the first of its kind in the world and developed to maximize the energies of the local environment and various natural materials to enhance and balance the biorhythms of the body. This application of energetic principles has been arrived at after many years of meditation and research into understanding biorhythms, natural energies, Feng Shui, sacred texts, crystals, colors, flowers, herbs, precious metals and natural fabrics, and shapes conducive to proper balance of sound and light energy, will all be utilized throughout the construction of the Centre buildings to create a vibrant living space for healing and growth where practical.
Currently, the principals of the Centre are in the process of developing and copyrighting the formal designs for the distinctive building structure. Working closely with professional architects and designers, the end result will be a truly one of a kind series of structures built in harmony with the environment and energized with the help of natural materials. Ultimately, this Centre has the potential to draw people to Singapore to understand the concept of using energetically correct construction that benefits the health and productivity of those who live and work within it. In the future, it is believed that the Centre will be a landmark-building concept for Asia and the world.
(7) Research
The Centre will continue research into the creation of healing oils and elixirs that was initially started in Australia by Poonam Uppal. The intention is that, where possible, the oils and elixirs will be patented so they can be produced and distributed in large quantities based on controlled manufacture for both retail and used in clinics worldwide.
This research forms the basis of the Centre’s healing programs and is the cornerstone of the recipes that will make the holistic food restaurants a unique experience.
(8) Conclusion
The principals Sri Poonam Uppal & Clifford Tan strongly believe in the contribution of the therapies and healing approach for society as a whole; standing at the forefront of making Singapore a hub for alternative healing and healthy lifestyle practices.
By being able to construct the main Centre in a garden like environment that offers both a tranquil retreat and is able to produce its own organic food will not only stand as a testament to what is possible, but will also have a multiplier effect on the power of the healings offered. It will assist people in transforming themselves, their lives, their families and the country they live in.
As the healing principles are based on the healing traditions of Asia as a whole, the Centre will also represent: fusion of values, love and knowledge; of what is a multi ethnic culture.
We hope that Singapore can see the value that the Centre will bring to the country & world, both as a viable organization and a place of growth & healing
